When Every Therapist You Find Is Insane (Comedy Sketch)
A search for help after a divorce becomes a tour of increasingly disastrous therapists and life coaches.
Finding help should not make everything worse
A person going through a difficult divorce starts looking for someone to talk to. This HeyItsEdgar sketch follows that search through a collection of fictional therapists and self-help figures who repeatedly turn the conversation toward their own assumptions, methods, and distractions.
The first professional cannot stop interrupting. A Freudian interpretation becomes wildly inappropriate. Another session takes an unexpected religious turn, and a life coach insists that facing a fear means sending a message the client has good reason not to send.
The next appointment brings a new problem
The trouble accumulates from one session to the next. By the time someone finally appears willing to listen, even the act of taking notes becomes another source of discomfort. The professional keeps saying the notes are nothing to worry about, while their content becomes impossible for the client to ignore.
The characters are exaggerated comic inventions, not guidance about therapy or a representation of every practitioner. The sketch uses repeated failed attempts to get help as a structure for jokes about overconfidence, poor listening, life-coaching clichés, and people who decide what your problem is before hearing you explain it.
